2025 GMC PTO Essay & Art Contest

The contest encourages students to explore what unity means to them and how it empowers their school communities.

All students currently enrolled in a GMSD school are eligible to enter. Entries will be judged in four grade divisions:

  • High School: Grades 9–12

  • Middle School: Grades 6–8

  • Older Elementary: Grades 3–5

  • Younger Elementary: Grades K–2

Deadline: January 31, 2026

Writing Contest

Students may submit one original piece in a single category—personal narrative, short story, or poetry—that reflects this year’s theme.

  • High school entries should range from 500–1,000 words.

  • Middle school entries should range from 200–800 words

  • Elementary entries should range from 100–200 words.

All submissions must include a completed entry form, be original and unpublished, and should not include the student’s name on the entry itself.

Art Contest

Students can showcase their creativity through visual, photographic, or digital artwork.

  • Visual Art: Painting or drawing using traditional media such as pencil, pastel, crayon, marker, or paint.

  • Photography: Color or black-and-white prints, up to 11 x 14 inches.
Digital Art: Middle and high school students may submit digital pieces in JPEG or PDF format.

Artwork must be no larger than 16 x 20 x 2 inches, original, and accompanied by an entry form. Digital files must also be emailed to GMCPT0Contest@gmail.com.
